A bench for sitting? Or for decoration?
How a wrong purchase turned into a furniture piece
The idea
A couple months back, Mick purchased a wood plank which we wanted to put up as a wall shelf but realizing that it’s massive wood it was way too heavy. We started brainstorming what else we could do with it as it was like 40 euros.
What it ended up being
Mick was out of ideas. It was way to heavy to put up the wall and only logical thing I could think of with this slab of wood was: We needed somewhere to sit down to put our shoes on.
We don’t really have a hallway or a way to seperate the entrace area from the kitchen. So the idea of a bench to put on shoes and divide the entrance area visually from the rest of the apartment simply works.
And tada, ordered two legs from the internet, got the according screws at home and drilled them in.
A small project, took less than an hour in effort and makes a unique piece of furniture. In the future one could reuse this for plant pots or decor. Benches are quite versatile.
